Okay, lure Bruno to  this part of woods where the bear was killed.
Tell them that you have taken care of the goblins but you found weird tracks of an unknown animal.
We are taking care of the rest.

Do that and we let you scoundrel friend go.

The travel back to town takes quite some time.
So the adventurers estimate that they will be back with Bruno the next day around noon.

This gives you a lot of time.

So what will you do with all that time.
Any patrols?
Guarding the scoundrel
Preparing traps?

And how much earlier will you go to the meeting point to lay ready for your ambush.
(And will you bring the scoundrel with you)

Nope, the scoundrel will be safe in the dungeon where he is now.
And with enough guards to have an eye on him.

Better we scatter and hide the goblins, so we can encircle Bruno and ambush him without any hope of escape.
And since my imps are so small and swift, I'll send them out to scout to see if our guest of honor appears or not.

Will be our glorious leader with us on this ambush?

((And yes, herb would be willing to help you ambush enemies))

As the focus of your thoughts seem to be focused on the next day you can try to get more sleep.

Unfortunately your well deserved rest gets interrupted a mere hour later..as the goblin guards start to shout because the prisoner disappeared.

Ella looks for tracks and actually finds some.

Two humans seemingly walked through the camp starting about 10 meters away from the dungeon door, right to the gate..and then the footsteps reappeared a few meters away on the outside of the gate.

Following the trail a bit more they join up with two other human footsteps.

All four humans then walked away from your fortress in the general direction of the town

Let us follow those tracks. They can't be far. We can find them before they reach the town.
