Title: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 17. Aug 2017 at 21:36

After you returned Lisa took a few days to readjust to normal life.
Then löeft the valley to sell her VR helmet..which at her presentation completely failed to work
After her return to the valley, she showed slight signs of paranoia...but that is probably to be expected when your dreams get shattered and you were chased around by trees

Your job as a delivery boy was of course gone..but seemingly there is money to be made if you can help out people by commanding tiny people around.

Being able to shrink and grow things doesn't hurt either.
(The grow ritual is similar to the shrinking one, but the chant is different and you have to catch the hot air from the candle in a balloon(which slowly gets inflated during the ritual)

The Pugs find their relationship with you useful and you now have practicly always at least 10 of them around.

And while live isn't exactly great now it at least gives you a moderate amount of comfort

That is when someone start to ring your doorbell over and over again.
Opening up you see a soldier with a paniced look in his eyes.
"I need your help. They are after me.
I thought I escaped..but the gremlins took my copter apart.
Please Wylo Gryph..you are my last hope."

"FUCK YOU ! I mean- Oh, Glims. Oh shit, GLIMS !? In. In. IN !" I guide him in. "Watch out, don't mess your gear up. Come on." I move to pull out a chair for the guy. "Why would you need my help ? What happened ? Tell me. Or tell us."

"It all began a few month ago.
A small time crook by the name of Bruce Rossi got involved with some cult.
Then he took over and suddenly the cult turn to eco terrorism.
But then it got odd..as in trees starting to move and attack the people who were supposed to cut them.
That was about the time the FBI got involved.
Pretty soon after that they realized that the actual problem was way about anything they could fight.
That was when we got in.
And even our weapons weren't designed to fight wood we had some stuff that could deal with it.
And then the sudden malfunctions started to happen.
As we found out the cult had found some way to use magic not just to animate trees, but to summon other creatures into their service..like gremlins.
We had lots of cases of sudden machine failure..and things like rat poison in our food.
But getting killed by enemies we couldn't see was just one of our problems.
As things got worse and even the dumbest of us realized we were facing magic some form of MIB started to show up and they made people forget and transfer the out.
And I didn't want to die or get my memory erased so I tried to flee,
which didn't work out.

But I remember having seen your name in our files.
You have dealt with this shit before. If anyone can help me,it's you"

"Gremlins are assholes. They don't even die by conventional means. I'd recommend throwing them in lava, or molten steel. I hope the water thing is fake. But I wouldn't try throwing them into ocean. The world may have a sea of them. We need large microwaves, some flamethrowers, and a massive chainsaw tank that is electrified on the outside."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 21. Aug 2017 at 19:54

""Flamethrowers aren't such a great idea.
Sure it sounds nice afterall wood can burn.
But turns out magical animated trees don't feel pain ad take a long time to burn down.
And until then you just fight flaming trees..and humans are quite vulnerable to fire.
But what worked really well were iron bullets.
One shot and a tree stops moving.
And if you can hit a gremlin it really hurts them, and they can't regenerate as long as the bullet is in their body.
So sub machine guns work very well..full machine guns not so much as they tend to shoot through them.
And of course shotguns are great if you re close enough.
They don't need too accurate aim, but if the enemy is too small you might miss them even though you put holes around them

"Yea yea, iron buckshot and iron grenades and iron armor and iron mesh netting should be good. Mesh netting to contain magic. I don't want my epic magic to fail when I use it, though.

So, what the army needs are iron bars and iron mesh to surround bases, and some iron tacs and iron traps. Iron needle blowdarts too, for my mini-friends. My friends are quick and agile and can run up and blow an iron dart at anything. Or if we had automatic dart shooters, my small friends could go in and really cause problems for the gremlins."

I begin to think.

"We need to be economic if this is gonna be a constant battle. For one, we need to recruit allot of troops. Two, we need them trained to combat magic using iron, as well as keeping them vigilant, with the habit of checking their equipment and vehicles. Trained sniffing dogs could be used to sniff out gremlins. The trained troops will need commanders that are well informed about combating magic and animated trees and gremlins and anything else like that. One thing for sure is magic hates iron, and we like things that hate magic, but me, I like magic, cause I'm the best, of course, haha.

Ok. Trained troops will be used to carry on the frontline battle. Everything on our side of the frontline needs to be pure and clean of any gremlins or magic oriented beings, with me and my friends being the only acception.

Then we need a simple tactic. Basically, to have an assembly line of iron bullet production and other iron items like iron mesh nets and darts and small anti gremlin iron needle traps. And as a frontline tactic, all they have to do is to sink iron into magic things, like animated trees and gremlins. Maybe dogs with iron tooth implants will be effective on the frontline too.

I'm guessing when iron bullets enter the trees it screws up or interviews with the energy flow from the magic. We should assemble a think tank and magic research center to research the scientific properties of magic. Surly some of this can be explained or figure out better. I'm sure if we figure out how it works in and out, we could simply make computerized devices to use so we can easily overcome magic, make magic jammers, and be immune to magic. Gotta jam the fuhk out of their magic waves while at the same time dominating the magic arena."

Takes a deep breath.

"Sorry. Allot of words I said. I can break it down further, haha."

"Well do what ever you have to do. As long as you can keep me save from Bruce Rossi and those fucking MIB.
As far as iron bullets and weapons go..there are quite a lot of those at the crash site.
I doubt that the gremlins took any of it..and it should be hours before anyone else gets to it."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 22. Aug 2017 at 22:42

"Ok. Let's go then. Lillian, let's get as much of the bullets as we can." We saddle up to go to the crash site.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 28. Aug 2017 at 17:40

A nice hike later you reach the crashed copter.
You also see about a dozen gremlins who were doing something with the guns and ammunition.
As they see you they don't even try to run, instead 2 of them hold a grenade while the third one tries to pull the ring out.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 28. Aug 2017 at 22:23

"Haha, look at these fuh-oh shit. LOOKout-" I run up to them before they get the pin out, and attempt to snatch the frag from them before they pull the pin out.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 29. Aug 2017 at 18:59

You run towards them, and when you have almost reached them, the gremlins pull out the ring and...

throw the ring at you before they vanish into thin air.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 29. Aug 2017 at 20:21

"FUCK !" I run to the flight crew member. "FRAG, take cover !" I shove him to the ground and get on the ground myself. (Pending time of frag cook off). Then wait a moment, for the boom.

Frags, if detonate on ground, the shrapnel is more likely to bounce up lif it is far enough away, or at least should, but there is always that chance one or more chunks could hit something, and the smaller fragments could speckle. And the smaller sand sized pieces cult really suck more than a nice big chunk. (Perhaps a roll is needed ?)

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 31. Aug 2017 at 20:07

You cover to avoid an explosion..but the ring thrown at you doesn't explode.

strangely enough neither does the grenade.

As you look up you see that the helicopter is covered in smoke

"That is lucky. I hope that was just because we deal with gremlins who can't read..and not because they had time to really mix things up."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 04. Sep 2017 at 13:25

(The frag go boom, or was it a smoke grenagde ?)

"Ha, see, it got scare of me. It was so scared it mistakingly tossed the pin. All we gotta do is let them all play with frags."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 05. Sep 2017 at 17:36

((It was a smoke grenade))
"Wouldn't do much good. They have a tendency to survive.
Best way to handle them seems to give them something worthless that looks complicated. That can keep them busy for days"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 06. Sep 2017 at 08:05

An instant idea. "Let's give them a taser or something, or a bullet or, a FRAG, dammit. If we pretend frags are what we are interested in, maybe they will be interested too, and try to take them from us, haha. See, that's pretty smart, huh."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 06. Sep 2017 at 18:52

"Maybe. But the gremlins are a mere nuisance. But we came here to get weapons to fight off trees. And I fear the gremlins mixed stuff up..wouldn't do us much good to shoot them with silver bullets.

But the smoke seems to clear, so maybe we should have a look how much of a mess the Gremlins made"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 06. Sep 2017 at 22:40

"Dude. Do you realize we gotta make a sort of frontline of security and try to expand it to end compromise ion of them gremlins ? Think of a firewall. Anything gremlin is blocked. If compromised, remove by any means. We need a stable and uncompromised place to produce proper tools and weapons that haven't been screwed up by them. Then we need to maintain a defense against the trees, and work toward clearing them out, and to isolate the root cause of their animation and neutralize it somehow."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 11. Sep 2017 at 21:20

"But how? We sure didn't figue anything out"

"I think there are some spells that could help out.
I think the Noams might have a book about that.
But even if we can convince them to allow us access..I don't think any of us is good enough to cast something more advanced than a spell that could ring an alarm when gremlins aproach"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 12. Sep 2017 at 06:33

"Ha. you shouldn't doubt my ability. But I want a spell that makes them pop when they get close.

We need to experiment on them and find out what kills them. I wonder how well dogs will do hunting and getting them. If dogs can be released to hunt on them their own, that can minimize grem-threats too.

Lil- ? Pilot ? We should catch one and do experiments on it to find out what can kill them the best. Shall we ?"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 12. Sep 2017 at 21:34

"CAtching a gremlin is easier said than done. It is easy enough to bait them. But I never heard of a trap that ddn't malfunctiuon when used against them.
Also there are rumors that they know how to hop between worlds without needing a portal.
"

"I bet a buck load of iron from a 12ga shotgun direct into their ugly faces will kill them quite good.
In my experience that kills about anything but werewolfs"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 14. Sep 2017 at 08:07

"Ok, screw it, let's modify shotgun shells to fire iron. Need to make Gatling Gun shotguns, and iron frags, and iron throwing knives, and perhaps an iron fluid to water the trees with, haha. Now I'm thinking some stuff. Like my ideas ? Iron is where it's at. But, what about rust ? Iron rust is still iron, right ? Can't we use iron powder or powder rust to make us immune to magic shit ? Or, at least have both, just in case ? Haha, I just thought of blowing iron dust in their face."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 18. Sep 2017 at 18:12

"We already made iron bullets. But we were prepared for different threats..so there are also shells with silver or wooden bullets...and I think the gremlins might have mixed them.
iron powder is nice to neutralize magic..rust not so much.
Interesting enough an iron helmet can protect you from mind control..but not if it is painted.

But lets hurry and grab a few grates of stuff..before any more capable followers of Bruno arrive"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 19. Sep 2017 at 10:00

"Aw-ka, let's move." I help out with whatever. "What are we gonna do with grates ? Never heard of those. New weapons ? Or perhaps I misheard you ?"

"Who is Bruno ? Don't tel me his last name is Mars, haha."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 19. Sep 2017 at 17:41

"I meant to say crates.
And Bruno Rossi is the guy responsible for all the trouble.
He is part of some cult who summon all those walking trees and other critters"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 19. Sep 2017 at 23:50

"Them trees and all this shit happening reminds me of them zombies from that one show with the dwarf, dragon chick, and the north wall that got nailed by a modified wyvren with blue ice fire. But we got TANKS and JETS, and attack choppers. Of we face shit like that, it'll fail fast, maybe." I continue helping. "So, we gonna be dragging this all far ?"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 27. Sep 2017 at 21:05

"I don't know. You are local to this area.
I hoped you would be able to hide and protect me"

"I think we should just grab what looks useful and then set fire to the contraption, so the bad guys can't use any of this stuff against us"

As you look into the copter you can see several crates of ammunition labeled with "silver", "iron", "steel" and "lead"
Also the sizes for those are standard 9mm, 12ga shotgun and 5.56mm
In addition to the ammunition there are also a few guns.
Namely 3 UZIs, 2 shotguns and one assault rifle

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 28. Sep 2017 at 05:27

"We can set the fuel on fire by shooting the fuel tank. Pilot, you know where the fuel cap is. Let's get some iron shot loaded in these weapons, and load ourselves out. Pilot guy, you're an Army officer. I think you should get first pick."

I think of how funny it would be to see Lillian flying a modified remote control aircraft, set up to where it can be piloted from the inside, just like a real plane, where her and her clan could fly them to where they are not remote controlled, but piloted, and have some small .22 caliber guns on them, so they can aim at something and fire a shot at targets from long range.

"Lillian. What do you think you and your clan would think about flying ?"

I step back to allow the pilot to take his weapon of choice.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 28. Sep 2017 at 20:05

"You watch too many action movies. Shooting the tank would just mean the fuel would leak out. we could just douse the ammunition we leave in gas and throw a match on it."

He grabs the assault rifle and fills his pockets with 5.56mm  ammunition

"Flying..that is a pretty hard spell.
Unless you want us to kiss the elfs queen ass and hope she is impressed enough with us that she would grant us wings"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 28. Sep 2017 at 21:56

"Ok, let's burn the chopper, but let's get all the ammo we can get."

"And Lillian, do you mean to give you all to the queen for you to be her personal ass kissing toys ? She would be impressed with that I'm sure. But no, I meant flying craft using the science of lift. I can show you with paper when we get back to the house. Remind me if I forget."

"Too bad we can't just drag the chopper to the house." Instant thought. Shrink spell. "Yo, don't burn it. I'm a make things easy for us, cause I'm bad ass like that, haha." I take an SMG, and the Shotgun, and lid up on ammo for myself, and then step back and begin to cast a shrink spell on the chopper. "We can just pocket this chopper and bring it with."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 02. Oct 2017 at 21:29

Ah, but din't you bring the supplies for the spell?

Okay, I grant you that you are weird enough to always carry candles with you.

I still need to see a roll for how good you did
(As you have time and multiple candles it is more to see how much concentration and time you will need to waste on this)
And as a reminder the rolls in this are 3d6

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 03. Oct 2017 at 09:35

Those candles are of significant quality. And if I have to, I can use them as minor clubs for emergencies.

As you keep repeatingly shrink the helicopter you make good progress.
It is down to 1/10th of it's normal size and probably carryable by two persons when you hear noises in the woods.

Someone or something is approaching.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 04. Oct 2017 at 10:44

I ready the weapon I'm holding, aiming it toward the noise. Though, not trusting the grems, I look at my surroundings, especially by my feet and behind. If the pilot is looking one way, meant to look where he can't see. "Something in woods. Weapon ready."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 05. Oct 2017 at 19:29

And so you wait ready for whatever might come up.

And finally you can see it walking through the woods..two guys in black suites, who look rather out of place walking through the underbrush.

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 06. Oct 2017 at 02:07

"Black suits, identify yourself. NAO !" I look to see if they are armed with weapons.

"I'm agent Miller, and this is my partner Agent Jackson,
FBI"

And with that the agents flash their badges

"We investigate a case of missing canisters of an hallucination inducing gas. Have you noticed anything suspicious?"

The agents are also surprisingly unfazed by the pretty heavy artillery you are carrying around, or the miniature helicopter

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 10. Oct 2017 at 09:16

I look at the pilot, then at the chopper, then back at the pilot again, as if waiting for him to speak, then at the weapon, then back at them. "Well, yea, um, really ? Tell me. What do you see me as and describe the surroundings in this immediate area. If what I see matches what you describe, then maybe I gotta reevaluate some things."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree

"Very well..I see two persons, one in cheap street clothing and one in camouflage who are armed like they want to go to war, and a toy chopper"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 11. Oct 2017 at 09:33

"Dang, I need to change then. Now, if you can identify the difference between a real and fake chopper, I need you to examine this chopper, and determine if it is real or fake, and then we will see who is hallucinating. And if you and I are seeing the same thing, perhaps we are or are not hallucinating." I step to the side. "Go on, take a peek. And then we can get on the same page."

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree

"It is obvious a toy..it is far too small for a real one.
But if you are thinking it might be real, there might be something wrong with your eyes. Let me give you a quick exam"

He pulls out something that looks like a pen with an led at the top

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 12. Oct 2017 at 12:37

I step back and raise the rifle and shout out, "DROP IT, DON'T MOVE ! SHOW ME YOUR HANDS ! If that flashes, YOU will FLASH !" I call to the flight crewmember. "What do you think ? Monsters dressed in fake Men In Black suits !?" There is a hint of sarcasm when I speak to him (the flight crewmen).

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Elana on 16. Oct 2017 at 19:36

The agent drops it

"Relax, it was only a flash pen to check your eye reactions"

"They are humans and actual agents. That doesn't mean that they wont try to mess with your head"

"I hope that it is correct that it was just some pen..because when you dropped it it never hit the ground. I assume we have still Gremlins around, and they thought it to be interesting"

At the sight of Lilian the other agent reacts for the first time, tapping his ear and saying
"Initiate lock down procedures. The area is contaminated. We have confirmed sightings of little people and reports for gremlin activity"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 16. Oct 2017 at 22:35

Addressing the agents.

"Now look what you've done. You lost the mind eraser pen thingy. They must be cloaked or invisible now."

I aim down at where the pen vanished.

"So. Now your story of being agents is true, yet your initial story of folks seeing things is just an attempt at testing the waters to get information. Yet you SEE the chopper, reduced in size. So now you need to start explaining your mission, so WE can better help you understand the situation. Because if you start trying to fix this and don't know how, you could screw it up MORE by intervening. Nao, what have you and the federals figured out and have done so far to fix things ?"

Weapon is pointed down, trained near the feet of the agents. If a gremlin appears, I might take a shot, if it is not too close to the agents.

"Interdimensional rift are not as rare as we would like.
And when one opens they tend to stay open for years, sometimes decades.
Depending on where the rift leads you can get different kind of trouble.
Luckily what ever trouble is caused by the rift stays relatively contained as only the area in a few miles gets subjected to the otherworldly physics.
You might get something like magic or an area where people build machines like out of any science fiction, but if they go elsewhere that stuff just stops working.
Even living beings from another universe..if they go away from the rift they change into something that fits into this world.
It might be a normal human or lots of little folk turn into animals of similar size.
One exception are gremlins. They first appeared in this world in the late 1930's..but they made it their new home.
It's like they create their own weirdness field around them "

"As my partner mentioned, these affected area from the rifts tend to be small, but we have learned that it is possible to enlarge them.
Our job is to make sure that that doesn't happen
Well that and prevent idiots from causing the zombie apocalypse or similar in those areas.
"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree
Post by Dragnoxz on 18. Oct 2017 at 22:14

(Oh shit. Now we are getting into a kind of situation where this rift situation can almost relate to the situation from the VR-World, where agents ended up in the Resident Evil realm, using “Polydimensional Atomic Vortex Oscillating Temporal Device” (PAVOTD). I have a D&D character from the VR-World in the realm of Astrad (a realm where vampires are). There are others from D&D realms and the Resident Evil realm in the VR-World. What happened that bridged the realms is a result from that PAVOTD tech. Rifts seem to be forming across the realms. As long as gods don't start tryin to get through, everything should be fine, lol).

"So. What's causing these rifts and are they increasing ? What is known about closing them ? And, what happens to those that do come through and are stuck here after the rifts close ? Like my little friend here, what happens to her, she turns into a mouse or lizard after it closes ?"

((Wow 12 days..must be a new slowness record for me. But at least I should have a few days were life doesn't throw unexpected stuff at me))

"We aren't sure what causes rifts or how to properly close them.
But most of the time they disappear after a few years"

"Don't forget the one to Toon town it was stable for decades"

"But it did close on its own eventually.
Anyway if a portal is too dangerous we tend to seal it and put some governmental building on top of it. So random people can't access it.

Also there was once a case where people screwed up and put a high school on top of a sealed portal..pretty awkward situation altogether"

Title: Re: Silver Tree Valley 3: The cult of the tree

(I am about to graduate this December with a second degree, then work my as off and take flight lessons to get my private plot license, until the summer, when I can rest during OTS (officer training school), then with any luck, hopefully, fighter pilot stuff. Other than that, book writing, essay writing, and allot of homework, and work, work), Nao, back to character, lol.

I lower the weapon. "Oh, so, this kind of thing happens all the time, huh ? Imagine kids going off to other realms. I wonder what kind of things they would get into. Hmm. I also wonder where they all originate. We need magnetic, gravitational, warp, and other fancy, expensive, scientific analysis on this."

"So. You like the chopper ? I shrunk it myself. And, since there is a portal open somewhere, we could use some help moving it to a safer place, so the Grems don't mess with it, so we can restore it to normal, so we can use the weapons on board to kinda plug the portal. It can still be used for parts, later on. Maybe. Possibly ?" I look at the flight crew member. Then I look back at the agents. "Ready ?"

And this chopper is real. I mean, you can see it, and so can I, thus, it is real. You can even ask the flight crew member here." I point at the crew member. "And we could use some thermal goggles, or inferred. Maybe we will be able to see them with it, or at least some sort of flucuations around them to where we can lead and nail them."

"Yes, there is a tiny broken chopper. Who cares?
What is important is finding the portal and make sure nothing bad can come through it. And don't worry about gremlins. they have been around for decades and haven't done much harm."

"What about Bruce Rossi? Do you think that he is something to worry..or should we just worry that you two will fry our brains?"

"We don't fry anyones brain..and we don't have access to Neuralizers.
But you are correct Rossi is something to worry about.
He got access to knowledge no human should posess..and he has used it to his advantage.
He not just formed a cult, he also has used summoning and mind controlling magic.
If he is within 7 miles of a portal he is extremely dangerous.
And when I say dangerous..I mean apocalypse levels of dangerous
"

"Screw him. I'll slap him with mih paur- and he will beg like a spoiled braht."

"Ok, the chopper is reduced in size. It has weapons and ammo we can use to take on magic folks at the portal. Also, we need you to call HQ to see about a magic detector device, or magic detection radar. They got money, I'm sure they can make a good investment that will help manage the portal, or portals, as you say."

"You weak ? You gonna help or do I gotta shrink this chopper one more time ?"

"What do you need all the extra guns for..Do you expect an army to be around?
We can temporarily close the portal with a bit of wire, thats all it takes to disrupt magic.

And carrying around the chopper is a liability. You only need to touch it with a nail and it will turn back to full size and crush you"

"Not if all the nails in town are galvanized well. But that would suck.

And why use a chopper and the army in the first place if there isn't an army of whatever random things might be emerging from the portal ?"

I begin walking away from the chopper. "Ok. Everyone away from  the chopper. Like, one hundred feet from it. Gonna restore it to normal."

I think to myself how cool it would be to keep the chopper as I prepare to release the spell. I make sure everyone is clear before I do.

"The army was supposed to deal with a completely different mess..but your friend was to scared and stole ta helicopter and went awol.
For some reason coming here into a completely different mess..which also attracted Bruno Rossi. Which was kinda stupid off him.

So the priority list right now is
1 secure the portal
2 find and stop Brono Rossi
3 return that soldier to his troop so they can deal with his insubordination

And on the side we have to determine if you are an enemy, a friend or a neutral..and if you are not an enemy and proof to have actually a good grip on magic consider if we should offer you a job"

"A job ?

I can magic. What's nice is I recently lost my job. Was delivery, but then I got h-portaled. I met some mini-folk, made friends with them, and got messed up by some tree manipulating dryad chick, and now just got pulled into more portal nonsense. There.

Does that make me a friend, foe, or bystander ? And I know where the portal is, if it hasen my moved."

I look at the fight crew. "YOU are not a pilot, are you ? From what I remember in history, you gotta be an officer to be a pilot, right ? What's your excuse ? Or, perhaps you have a good reason. I'm just curious. Then again, maybe you are not comfortable explaining. It's not entirely my business, I suppose, no need to explain, I'm sure you have your reasons."

"If you help us you are certainly to be considered a friend.
And there are many occurences of portals.
Someone with magic expertise can be useful to deal with the weird stuff happening around them.
Especially if the portal is well hidden.

But we can discuss details once we have dealt with the portal around here..lead the way"

"I am a pilot..you only need to be an officer if your job in the army is being a fighter pilot..which I'm obviously not qualified for.Even if I would become an officer it would take another 2 years before they would actually let me fly one of those things..Those machines are expensive after all"

To the Agents. "We should share contact info so we can coordinate."

To the pilot. "You must be a new pilot then. Still a Warrant Officer. That shows how much I know about the Army's structure. But I didn't know the Army had fighter jets."

I walk to the agents to trade contact info.

(The pilot would, or should know that the Army doesn't have fighter jets. If I was playing my character as me, knowing what I know, I would really not trust him at all at this point, but since my character is not really me and probably doesn't have much military knowledge, he won't know to not trust him much. Perhaps the agents would catch on, and be sly about the situation, if they were once in the military or know military intelligence).

((What??The ground forces don't have jets..breaking news hold the presses :)
Next thing you say is that the guy who does have conflicting details of his story, and not once given you his name is acting suspicious))

The agents look confused

"Why would we need to exchange contact info, if you lead us directly to the portal?"

(I'm guessing my dude is in a bad place at the moment, lol. Perhaps I could role a wisdom check).

"Dang. I would have figured the FBI would have a sensor thing and could just go to it. But, yea, dudes, contact info would be nice, because if we got separated some how, we could all keep in contact. I'm guessing army guy don't have a contact method, being in the army. The chopper had a radio, I'm guessing, but yea."

I check my phone. What do I gotta role to see if the battery is dead ? He may rely on his GPS too much to know exactly the location of the portal without it. And if they are legit agents, why might have phones. I might have to find a way to manipulate them to allow me to shrink them to make them go into a hole so I can bag them up like collectible toys.

ou check your phone, the good news is the battery is full..the bad news is you have no signal

"A detector for random portals that can pinpoint thelocation exactly? I think you confuse the FBI with the Enterprise"

"To be fair..we are here because we detected the anomaly. But the accuracy we got is something within a 2 mile radius. So we know that it is somewhere in the forest"

"Average size, average build. Dark hair, has a tendency to dresses 'mysterious' And he is also quite insane and started to worship Cthulhu after he bought a fake Necronomicon.
And things wouldn#t be so bad, but when he started praying to Cthulhu,
something answered.
And we think whatever it is can spread the insanity"

"Whatever. Just lead them to the portal. I will follow behind them and make sure that they don't try anything.]"

Addressing pilot: "Dude, you acknowledged that they are authentic FBI agents, there is no need to have to watch them, they aren't kids, or grems, or whatevers. AWOL isn't so bad. It's like a minor mark on some record, right ? What's the worse they can do, kick you out, or put you on some sort of suspension ? Then you wouldn't have to worry about anything but finding a job. You could learn magic and shrink nukes for the FBI and pack some grems in a barrel with the nuke and drop it over some other country and see what happens.

And agents, I gotta admit, I'm probably crazy, but not insane. You should be crazy too. It's the only way to get past all this nonsense. (Oh no, maybe I'm going insane), haha, kidding. Y'all need to chill out. It's not like this Click-La-Chew is real. It's probably just the portal. Which is, um. This way. Or, that way ?"

I try to get my bearings. Should I roll a wisdom check to see if I go the correct way ?

A D-20 ?

You are local to the area, so no need to roll to find something basic like tha.

Finding your bearing might become important if oyu get lost on the other side ;)

""I don't trust them. What if they try to wipe our memory or something"

"<groan> You are getting silly, Mr....what can I call you anyway?"

"My name? Eh..."

The pilot guy looks down on the writing on front of his jacket

"You Es ...Justin Eh Ar Em...Armstrong.
Yes that is totally my name Justin Armstrong"

"I see. Well...Mr. Armstrong to be perfectly honest..I'm not comfortable with anyone with your attitude pointing a gun at my back"

"Dude, this isn't Men In Black. They are investigation folks. They look for things and investigate things. It's not like they are assigned to find AWOL army fighter chopper pilots." I emphasize that as I give the agents this discreet look of obviousness "They want to find the portal, and some religious guy." I gesture to him, discreetly, almost talking to the agents, pointing him out covertly at the same time. "But, if you gotta be all paranoid about some FBI dudes, you being army and all, that's ok. You can carry all the weapons if it makes you feel better." I hand him the jumble of weapons. It should give the agents a window of opportunity to do something once he grabs them, if they are observant enough. If not, at least I don't gotta waste my energy carrying all the weapons, lol.

Okay, as I haven't posted in over a month, I guess we can assume that the game is dead now.

But I guess you deserve at least what was going on, so you can imagine how you would have solved it ;)

The soldier was actually possessed by a creature Bruno had summoned.

When the Agents would start to close the portal with iron wire he would have snapped and starting to shoot around.

Bruno himself is an insane cultist who started worshiping Cthulhu after he bought a fake necronomicon.
(And I mean obviously fake, whatever magic he learned it sure as hell didn't come from that prop)

If he had succeeded he would have performed a blood ritual(complete with human sacrifices) To open lots of portals to the dimension of his insanity.

Which of course could have changed the world for good.

Aw, but I was just starting to have fun with the dude with the gun.

If he realized he was suspected, he might have started to shoot anyway. My plan was to somehow discreetly communicate to the agents that the dude was conlromized, and get the weapon from him. Then, stop Bruzer, the Bruno, and then find my little friend and begin play bullying her when all is done, and bra about how I stopped the bad guy from screwing up the world, and then make allot of spells and do fun things.

Perhaps you grew bored of my responses and role play ? Or tasks of personal life have grown to be more demanding ? Whatever the case, I don't think negative of it. Everyone has their reasons.

Perhaps all this role playing warrants friendship in some way ?
